Partial refurbishment , restoration of your current bathroom. Vs full replacement of all fixtures and fittings.

In with the new doesn’t always mean out with the old.

Does your bathroom suite still have some life left in it ?

Reusing your old bathroom suite has a variety of benefits .. first and foremost cost. Removing and disposing of these items not only takes up a large portion of your bathroom refurbishment budget also a lot of these items will end up in landfill. If your suite is in a fairly respectable condition then having them refinished with new fixtures and fittings may be the answer for you .. with new bath taps, waste fittings , traps and panels your old bath can still shine bright and be the centre of any modern and beautiful bathroom refurbishment.

Same applies with your toilet and basin. Recycling these vital bathroom components can free up more of your budget to spend on the things that really make a bathroom feel modern, warm and exciting.

Let’s to talk tiles.

After deciding whether or not to replace your current suite the next thing that comes to mind when planning your beautiful bathroom refurbishment is tiles …  Given the average bathroom size of a 3 bedroom family home in the uk is on average around 3x3m2 and sometimes smaller. Tiles are generally the go to option when it comes to the  finish of your updated and elegant bathroom  . Tiles come in a variety of different styles, shapes and designs,  from large high gloss porcelain finishes to smaller Matt finishes In a variety of shapes, sizes and thickness. Quality really does matter when picking tiles.

Tiles are of course not the only way to finish your bathroom walls. As time goes on many people have opted to have wall panelling as opposed to tiles .. , these panels can also come in a variety of stylish and modern patterns and some of them are cheap and flimsy however some of the more expensive and quality built panels with a plywood backer are built and designed to stand the rest of time, with ease of cleaning and quickness of installation they can also be a cost effective and can completely transform your bathroom refurbishment having your friends and neighbours asking where you got them from .. really bringing back the wow factor.

Venetian plastering

This is undoubtedly one of the most expensive options for finishing the walls in a bathroom

completely sealing and hand plastering your walls and polishing them to such a high gloss finish that the water simply just runs right off of them .. with incredible results that bring a whole new meaning to the word shiny, easy to clean and maintain once competed as its a hand spread product no to walls are quite the same making your bathroom refurbishment very unique indeed.

Heating.

Nothing will make a bathroom refurbishment feel warm and cosy like a modern & contemporary heating system, towel rails being the most common in the bathrooms of today, these can be either electric or piped directly into your home’s heating system.

These Quirky & electrifying towel rails come in a multitude of colours and sizes, tall or small wide or slim , suiting your  functionality & Style, not only keeping your room at optimum temperature but also warming the towels which hang on them , nothing feels quite as cosy as stepping out of the bath and wrapping yourself with a warm and inviting soft towel.

Underfloor heating.

Perhaps your thinking of installing underfloor heating, this can be a wise investment when used in conjunction with a tiled floor, these floors can sometimes feel cold under foot, especially during the night hours when popping to the loo, electric underfloor heating with a control thermostat allows you to set certain times and temperatures having full control over the climate in your bathroom refurbishment,

There are two main types of underfloor heating

Electric underfloor heating systems generally used in bathroom refurbishments. These are electric and hydronic systems, Electric underfloor heating systems use thin heating wires or mats installed beneath the floor to generate heat, which then radiates upwards, warming the floor and the room above.

Hydronic underfloor heating, also known as a “wet” system, circulates heated water through pipes embedded in the floor, turning the entire floor into a radiant heat source for even and comfortable warmth.

How it works

  • A closed-loop system circulates heated water (or a water-glycol solution) through a network of pipes laid under the floor.
  • The pipes, often made of materials like PEX or copper, are typically laid in a concrete slab or under a screed.
  • The heated water transfers its heat to the floor, which then radiates warmth upwards, creating a comfortable and even heating experience.
  • The system can be controlled by thermostats and zoning valves to regulate room temperatures

Lighting.

Once your bathroom refurbishment is complete you want to be able to see it in all its glory so lighting can be just as an important factor, any lighting installed in a bathroom refurbishment must be a minimum of (IP65) rated which means it is a dust tight unit which can withstand water jets from any direction it does not mean fully waterproof and must not be submerged in water.

There is a vast selection of ip65 rated spotlights and light fittings offering a light range from warm white to cool white and also led lights which are extremely energy efficient and bright.

Multi coloured led lights can make a great addition to your main light when sometimes you don’t want the bright light of the spotlights, a low light output led or candle flickering effect can be just the ticket when relaxing in you brand new bathroom refurbishment

Extraction fan and air circulation

Have you ever been in the shower too long and it feels like you’re in a steam room ? as with your lighting your extractor fan will also have a minimum requirement of ip65,  when placed in a strategic location on your ceiling or wall it will happily and with ease remove any excess steam from the air, preventing your bathroom refurbishment from becoming damp and  also helping to remove any condensation from your windows when you struggle to get out of your brand new shower , these fans are wired directly into the lighting circuit of your bathroom and have an overrun timer, allowing you to leave the room, switch off the light and walk away, the fan will then automatically turn itself off after its finished scrubbing the air clean.
